Disruption to Heathrow Flight Patterns

Heathrow

Heathrow just wanted to let you know that between 3 October and 18 December major construction work is required to rebuild one of the taxiways adjacent to the northern runway. The taxiway is used by aircraft exiting the runway after landing when the airport is on easterly operations. Its closure means that the number of aircraft that can land is restricted on that runway due to the longer time that planes will remain on the runway until they can exit using an alternative taxiway.

To maintain safe operations and mitigate the impact of this work, during periods of easterly operations we will have to land some aircraft (an extra two per hour) on the southern runway after 7am while the work is being carried out.

They have made every effort to minimise the impact on local communities – this timeframe was chosen due to lower traffic volumes and based on historic data there is a 20% risk of easterly operations during this period. However, they recognise that this may cause disruption to communities around the airport and therefore they wish to apologise in advance.

Best Business Women Awards 2018

Best Business Women Awards 2018 Finalists announced.

The Best Business Women Awards have announced their finalists today for 2018. The business world is full of talented and dedicated female entrepreneurs who not only run successful businesses but in many cases also juggle the needs of their families. The Best Business Women Awards are designed to recognise the achievement of those women across a wide range of business categories and is open to any female business owner UK wide.
Local businesswoman Laura Dodsworth from Pink Spaghetti Staines, Woking & Surrounds has been shortlisted as a finalist in the Business Service.  Pink Spaghetti.  The business offers small business owners valuable support in areas where they don’t know how to do the task, don’t want to or simply don’t have time.  Pink Spaghetti take on anything from the bizarre to the mundane – sourcing reindeer for a Christmas event and attending a customer’s wedding as a paid witness have featured alongside travel booking, running events, creating marketing plans and managing email newsletters.  It’s the perfect solution for so many small businesses that don’t want to or can’t afford to commit to a member of staff, part time or full time.

Debbie Gilbert, organiser of The Best Business Women Awards said ‘Now in our 4th year we have seen the number of entries triple since we launched. The standard of our finalists is exceptionally high. We are delighted to receive entries from female entrepreneurs from throughout the UK, from women who are real trailblazers in their industry. This is a tough competition judged by business experts. To be a finalist is a major achievement. Finalists have been selected for their business acumen, determination, creativity and tenacity. Almost 90% of start-ups fail in the first 3 years and all our finalists are all shining examples of being successful entrepreneurs who have proved their success to our judges.’

Laura said “I’m super excited and proud to hear I’ve I made it through as a finalist in the ‘Business Service’ category.  The competition I’m up against looks incredible and I’m excited to meet some of these amazing business women on the night of the final.  It’s set to be a really special evening.”

The gala final of The Best Business Women Awards will be held on 11th October 2018 at Tewin Bury Farm, Welwyn, Hertfordshire, the winners will be announced at the final.

Great Fosters named Hotel of the Year

Great Fosters named Hotel of the Year – England 2018 at the AA Hospitality Awards

Now in its 21st year, the glittering awards ceremony at the Grosvenor House Hotel took place this week, celebrating the UK’s top hotels, restaurants and pubs and the people behind them. It also marks the release of the 2019 editions of the AA Hotel Guide and AA Best Restaurants Guide.

The AA Hotel of the Year Award, introduced in 1992, is the AA’s ultimate accolade for hotels in the UK. It is awarded to hotels that are recognised as being outstanding examples in their particular market. From the small family-run hotel to the most ambitious commercial ventures, hotels of every size and style are potential winners.

“I am absolutely delighted that Great Fosters has won this prestigious award! I am obviously thrilled for everyone involved in this achievement – the shareholders, board, management and all the staff.
It is recognition of all the hard work and dedication given by each and every member of the team. We are always striving to go the extra mile and build and improve on our offering to our guests. Our vision for the property has been brought to fruition and this award will spur us on for the future.”
