Guildford Regeneration and YOUR business- Hot Topic at The Harbour Hotel

Guildford Town Centre is going through some fantastic improvements, a brand new shopping centre ‘Tunsgate Quarter’ is to open in 2018 and is sure to open up a whole new retail expirence for customers and the general public, but how is all the regeneration accross the town going to affect local businesses? Surrey Chambers of Commerce has gathered information for businesses on this and is ready to share it all with you.
Guildford Borough Council’s Major Projects Portfolio Manager, Zac Ellwood is joining us to talk about the local development and how the council can support local businesses. Zac is a chartered town planner with over 20 years’ experience working at a senior level for a number of Councils across the country and in the private sector. He currently leads a small, dedicated, team of project managers put together to deliver regeneration and associated infrastructure improvements in the town centre and beyond, including major sites at North Street and Bedford Wharf. This presentation will focus on the work his Major Projects Team is progressing, how this aligns with the Council’s overall vision and priorities, and the challenges of delivering sustainable development in a town that has a unique heritage and character that must be protected, but which already faces significant problems with traffic congestion.
Gaurav Choksi , Development Projects Manager at Guildford Borough Council will also be joining us to talk about the enhancements of Tunsgate. Gaurav is a project manager with architecture and urban design qualifications and over 10 years public sector experience in the regeneration field. He currently works on major regeneration projects in Guildford, including the Slyfield Area Regeneration Project. He is project lead for the emerging Guildford town centre Streetscape Design Guide and the ongoing public realm enhancement works in Tunsgate. His presentation will focus on the Tunsgate area which is undergoing major change with the new Tunsgate Quarter and complementary street works.
