The Spelthorne Skills & Careers Fair 2017 was opened by Kwasi Kwarteng MP on Thursday 21st September at Kempton Park Racecourse.
With over 60 stands occupied by many of Spelthorne’s leading employers and skills providers the day was a fantastic opportunity to network and talk to local job seekers. With its biggest ever attendance of nearly 500 job seekers and students. The room was buzzing with many great conversations taking place.
This year’s event was a collaboration between Kenyngton Manor Children’s Centre, Spelthorne Borough Council, Job Centre Plus, Spelthorne Business Forum and A2 Dominion & Surrey Chambers of Commerce.
The event would not have been able to take place without the generous sponsorship from Dnata and Heathrow Airport Limited.
This event is another example of how business, local council and the social sector can come together in the interests of the local community to deliver a great and worthwhile event to benefit all who attended.
Jon Stanwick, Barclays Staines branch manager said: “There was a great atmosphere at the event with a good turnout and we met a lot of interesting potential recruits at the Barclays stand. The event was also an opportunity to talk to people about our Lifeskills project which helps young people become work ready, and also about the importance of being fraud aware and staying safe online.”
