Remember Pokemon Go? Now everyone’s talking about Spy Quest!
Spy Quest – a wholly immersive and exciting family entertainment experience will be coming to Staines-Upon-Thames this May half-term.
Visit Staines, The Business Improvement District is working in conjunction with Elmsleigh Shopping Centre and Two Rivers Shopping Centre to welcome the free event to Staines-Upon-Thames.
Taking place on Saturday 25th May, Spy Quest’s ‘Operation Cursed Diamond’ offers a modern-day treasure hunt, utilising cutting edge technology such as A.R and integrates it with smart phones and tablets, to provide a unique mixed reality experience.
Operation Cursed Diamond invites players top act like secret agents, using their smartphones to track down clues and crack the codes to help track down international jewel thief Franco Rodriguez through Spy Quest’s interactive app.
Secret agents of all ages are invited to meet at Elmsleigh’s main Square, outside 02 store with the live game taking place between 1pm and 2:30pm. Players will also be able to utilise the free Wi-Fi within Elmsleigh Shopping Centre to help track down Franco Rodriguez.
To sign up as an agent players can download the free Spy Quest app from iTunes or the Play Store, which also includes a live league table allowing players to check how they stand against other agents.
The Cursed Diamond is a best-selling book published in 2016, which tells the tale of Franco Rodriguez, who despite being Interpol’s most wanted criminal has evaded arrest for years.
He has his sights set on stealing the famous Hope Diamond from the Smithsonian Museum in Washington DC and the novel tells the tale of how the Spy Quest Agents Sam, Rebecca, Casey and Holly attempted to stop him from pulling off the heist of the century.
Intelligence suggests the thief Franco Rodriguez will be meeting known associates at Elmsleigh Shopping Centre to exchange the stolen $320m Hope Diamond and new agents are needed to help bring him to justice.
All clues will be located within the centre, with seven individual missions to complete. Players are tasked to complete the quest and race against the clock and other secret agents!
Books will be available to buy on the day from Waterstones, with David Goutcher on hand to sign books within the store from11am -3pm. Anyone buying a novel will also receive a free AGENT t-shirt.
Spy Quest will be back in Staines-Upon-Thames in August at Two Rivers Shopping Centre and October in the High Street.
David Goutcher, author and creator of Spy Quest commented: “I’m sure everyone will love the ground breaking augmented reality technology that adds to the immersive experience. I am passionate about reaching as many children as possible and using the educational aspects of the game and books, as a hook for improving literacy levels. I have been touring the UK and attending launches of the game at shopping centre’s from London to Aberdeen and I’m delighted to now have the game launch in Staines-Upon-Thames and look forward to visiting for the launch game.”
Michelle Baker, BID Manager for Visit Staines added: “We’re delighted to be welcoming Spy Quest to Elmsleigh Shopping Centre this May half-term, with a further two more missions taking place at Two Rivers Shopping Centre and the high-street later this year. We’re also thrilled to announce Spy Quest’s author David Goutcher will also be coming to Staines-Upon-Thames, meeting his biggest fans and signing books.”
